Colleagues Cite Rasoul’s Experience, Collaborative Leadership Style
RICHMOND, Va. - Del. Sam Rasoul’s campaign for Lt. Governor of Virginia announced endorsements this week from state Senators Ghazala Hashmi (D-Richmond) and John Bell (D-Loudoun) as well as Delegate Lashrecse Aird (D-Petersburg). Democratic colleagues in both houses of the legislature cited Rasoul’s collaborative leadership style throughout his four terms representing Roanoke in Virginia’s House of Delegates.
“I believe Sam will make a great Lt. Governor,” said Sen. Bell. “Sam has been a leader across all of Virginia, and his pledge to visit every city and county in Virginia just speaks to that commitment.”
“I am so delighted to support Delegate Sam Rasoul in his bid for Lt. Governor,” said Sen. Hashmi. “He’s been consistently available as a mentor, and as someone that I could work with and collaborate with.”
Since his election in 2014, Rasoul has helped mentor several newly-elected legislators in the statehouse, helping incoming lawmakers not only navigate the legislative process, but encouraging them to lead with their values.
“One of the first things that he taught me was that as leaders, we should strive to lead in a way where we are doing the most good for the most number of people,” said Del. Aird. “That is the leader I have come to know and trust in Delegate Sam Rasoul.”
This latest round of endorsements from the campaign highlight the relationships Rasoul has built over the last seven years in Richmond, and bolster his profile in a crowded field.
